Membership Process
The purpose of JSE is to promote the sound progress and development of commercial transactions related to maritime affairs. Our businesses must contribute to the prosperity of maritime-related industries in general.
Membership is open to individuals, corporations, or similar organizations engaged in shipping, shipbuilding and marine equipment, ship management, insurance and finance, shippers, trading companies, brokers and agents, ports, warehouses, multimodal transportation, law firms, and other businesses related to these industries, as well as those recommended by the Directors.
Expenses
Admission fee 30,000 yen
Annual membership fee 120,000 yen per unit
* No sales tax is charged on these fees.There is a guideline for the number of units based on business size and type of business.

Priority reservations are available for participation in various courses and seminars at a discounted rate.
Free sending of Books and Journals
Upon admission, you will receive some books and guidelines published by JSE. In addition, the monthly magazine “KAIUN”, the quarterly “Maritime Law Review” (KAIJIHO KENKYU KAISHI) “ THE MARINERS’ DIGEST” will be periodically sent free of charge(1 copy).
Discounts on sales items and service fees
Books are available at a discount of 10% off the list price (some items are excluded), contract forms at a discount of 20% off, electronic form services at 50% off, and “Maritime Law Review” (KAIJIHO KENKYU KAISHI) web services at 50% off the admission fee and no annual membership fee.
Networking across the Japan maritime cluster
We hold annual social gathering (free of charge) in Tokyo and Kobe with our members. This is a great opportunity for a wide range of exchanges.
